Classic adult film star Kandi Barbour (aka Candi Barber, Andrea Beck, Kandi Barbeau, Candy Barbour, Kandy Barbour, Candi Barbour, Kandi Barber) was one of the most beautiful performers of the 1970s and 1980s. Born in 1956, she came from the small town of Shawnee Mission, Kansas. With a sweet face and luscious, natural 35C-24-35 curves, Kandi could set pulses racing and erections throbbing just with a look of those big brown eyes. Photographer Diana Hardy is credited with discovering Kandi. By the mid-1970s, Kandi's beautiful body and puffy nipples had been seen in virtually every men's magazine, though she also found plenty of mainstream modeling work for companies including K-Tel. Kandi appeared in 42 adult movies, several softcore releases and at least 20 hardcore compilations. She was most active between 1978 and 1981, though she did her final adult film performance in 1987's X-Effect, directed by Ron Jeremy. After leaving the industry, Kandi moved to Hawaii and worked as an exotic dancer. Perhaps her career highlight was being chosen as the poster girl for Cecil Howard's 1981 classic, Neon Nights, which AVN named one of the 101 greatest adult videos of all time. Some of her other most loved films include Sex Boat (VCX), The Pink Ladies (VCA/Collector Classix Inc.), Screwples (Caballero Video), and Bon Appetit (Video X Pix). Kandi was inducted into the Pioneers branch of the X-Rated Critics Organization (XRCO) Hall of Fame in 2009. Early in February 2012, news broke that Kandi had passed away in San Francisco on Thursday, January 26, 2012.
